There is no hardware to be mounted under the bridge and no need for core drilling the bridge deck. The installation time is greatly reduced, making the overall system costs significantly lower than that of traditional FAST systems.
Installation is very easy. One entry cut is perpendicular, then a parallel cut(10mm wide) for up to 100m. Every five meters there is a 40mm cut to accommodate the spray head. The spray heads and the tubing are then rolled out in the cut.
The tubing is sealed and each spray head is secured. Each strip will cover up to 2 lanes wide by 100 meters (328 feet) in length. Two strips can be spray simultaneously, providing immediated coverage for 400 lane/meters (2624 lane/feet of roadway.
Spray volume is controlled by varying each program spray time, defined by the Boschung RWIS conditions and the users local knowledge. All activity of the system is monitored by the BORRMA Software and viewed via the GUI in the control room of the DOT, authority, or airport.
